CTV Fails its Viewers

A recent CTV Vancouver news story by reporter Jon Woodward, provided very wong information about the strength and safety of Wi Fi systems in schools. The report gives the impression that it is safe to use Wi Fi around children, yet ignores the scientific evidence which suggests otherwise. Here are some comments and links which detail the situation -

Conflict of interest?

So from Jon Woodward's reply letter (form letter to everyone), he said that he consulted sources at UBC (who?) and equipment manufacturers (who?), and those people highly recommended Karl Reardon. After Karl Reardon finished his testing, Jon took the results and went back to UBC expert (was it the same person who recommended Reardon in the first place?) to verify the results, and the UBC expert approved those results.

Wavefront to Open National Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization

Vancouver's Wavefront announced this morning that they will be launching a new national Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) for wireless technologies in partnership with the Government of Canada.

Beginning in 2011 and over the next five years, the new Wavefront Wireless Commercialization Centre (WWCC) will receive $11.6 Million in federal funding through the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Program in addition to $11 Million in cash and in-kind support that Wavefront's partners in industry, academia and government have pledged to date.

The WWCC will have a national focus, driving the growth of Canadian wireless companies, enhancing their global competitiveness and productivity, and creating high value technology and jobs.

Industry partners include Sierra Wireless, Ericsson, Nokia, Orange and others who have committed funds and resources to the WWCC. In addition, 27 leading Canadian universities from coast to coast will be partnering with the WWCC.

Do you see any conflict of interest?

Plus:

(1) What does he mean by "The policy recommendation of the B.C. Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils was worth examining" ? BCCPAC has studied WiFi for THREE YEARS, and how much time has Jon devoted to this research?
And he assumes that BCCPAC parents did not have any idea about radiation level before recommending or passing the resolution?

(2) "debate is often presented to the lay public without regard to the actual use of the technology in the schools in Vancouver at this time. " Completely wrong. We were particularly concerned about the nearfiend/contact-level radiation exposure to the children, but that was specifically NOT measurement by the engineer, even tho' the segment showed students working on ipads on their laps. Peak levels were also not reported. They only reported "average" measurements.

(3) The parents whom he had arranged to be interviewed would have given him many quotes about why Wi-Fi should not be used. Instead, these interviews were slashed and replaced by pro-WiFi principal, Grade 9 students and wireless-industry-affiliated "experts".

"We can work on the same Google Document, and without the Wi-Fi that would not be possible," said the Grade 9 student.
Do they even know that they can do the same thing with wired computers?!

Mysterious ailments linked to smart meters?

Childrens Safety not a concern for these School Board Trustees

Trustee Julie Austin proposed striking a district committee to research the health effects and role of WiFi in schools. She was concerned about possible health effects of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields emitted from wireless technology.

Her proposal was defeated.

Mammograms

Don't forget another source of cancer, specifically breast cancer: mammograms themselves. I believe this has been discussed here before. I want to let everyone in on a little research project I have been doing. I have been trying to locate just one woman personally who got breast cancer without having had an annual mammogram. So far no luck with this. However I have found loads of women who I spoke with personally who had their annual mammograms and ended up with breast cancer. In fact, every woman who told me they had had breast cancer had their annual mammogram before getting it. One, a trim, healthy, gym-going 50 year old was having 2 a year due to family history! Seems like I would get a few saying that they had occasional mammograms and it happened to be detected them. No,every one had annual. And so did other women that they knew of who got breast cancer. I spoke with many women so far.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying to not have these tests done. I don't wish to be responsible if you just happen to be the rare exception and get breast cancer without a mammogram. I am just saying that we simply need to be educated about the danger of these tests so we can make informed decisions. And of course there are other factors that contribute to cancer, such as you mentioned.

From what I have heard, breast cancer in Mexico is rare, and so aren't mammograms. Interesting...

Are we starting to see the results of greedy policy at the expense of the safety of you in your own home?

Are we starting to see what happens when you send 900 000 000 Hz into wiring that is only compatible for 60 hz?

Are we starting to see the results of what happens when you also have up to 2000 other meters sending 900 000 000 hz signals into your wiring all day for life?

Are we going to start asking our local MP's Newspapers, Insurers, BC Hydro for answers?

Are we going to start to tell our neighbours and friends?

Are we going to start asking questions when the Zigbee chip is activated and we have 2 400 000 000 Hz and 900 000 000 Hz going into our wires at the same time, all day, every day, for life?

Are we going to figure out that maybe.... just maybe... this device, installed sometimes by 19 year old kids, who are not electricians, only concerned about piecework commission and rushing, installing hot, a non csa/ul approved device, with no third party testing, just hydro's 'word' (as if that holds water or ever did) that we are safe?

When we know it is just money talking as all the guys in Hydro have shares in Corix, the meter installers and have a MASSIVE CONFLICT OF INTEREST and ALOT OF MONEY TO BE MADE, and likely lawsuits, total loss of share value, so now, rather than admit they have put 1.8 MILLION houses at risk for money and ALL people who live in BC, they have to continue their lie or risk loss in their share prices in their original investments they made in 2008-10.

DO WE UNDERSTAND THEIR SHAREHOLDER VALUE IS MORE VALUABLE THAN.....YOU, YOUR KIDS, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR LIFE ITSELF.

Would I be crazy to predict Hydro and the meter, will not be blamed, the homeowner will have to fend for themselves, and all people of BC will be at risk of fire all so a bunch of cronies can make a buck.

We have warned of this for months, not because we are psychic, because it is simple laws of electricity, physics and math, that have been ignored for money.

This is very real folks!

Dangerous New Appliances

Next time you are hunting for an energy efficient home appliance to replace that old dryer, microwave oven or fridge, the obvious step is to choose one with a good Energy Star rating. Note, however, that the Energy Star rating will soon have provision for new generation home appliances that have wireless connectivity to a smart meter. What is not said in the below article, however, is that disabling the wireless device in the appliance will void the appliance's warranty and may even be an illegal act.

Chile becoming more democratic than most !

BREATHTAKING: After debating this subject for a decade, the Government of Chile has passed the "Ley de Torres" or the Towers Act. The law, approved by a large majority of members of the Chilean Congress 1) strictly limits the power of antennas, 2) reduces urban impact of towers through 'infrastructure sharing', 3) opens up a process for citizen participation in the approval or denial process for new towers at the local level, effectively requiring prior permission, and terms, from local residents prior to receiving municipal permits; 4) allows property owners to request a reassessment of tax valuation for properties, and communities, where towers are located, to receive compensation from telecom providers in the form of improvement to neighborhood public spaces in an amount representing approximately 30% of tower installation costs; and 5) has a retroactive component in that it established mitigation measures in areas that are saturated with antennas, including those close to homes or institutions, such as kindergartens, health centers or schools. The Act has been signed into law by President Pinera and takes effect this week. Chile's Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Pedro Pablo Errazuriz stated, "…in addition to protecting the urban landscape and the goodwill of the neighborhoods, the new law takes care of the most important: the health of people in a precautionary manner as recommended by the World Health Organization, setting strict limits on the powers of the antennas. Chile is setting standards in this regard." We will follow up with more details as we learn them.

The new law is retroactive, therefore, there will be a register to check the antennas meet current emission rates established radio now and will be required to undertake improvement works.
