May 31 we are picketing outside cellular stores from coast to coast. It is the one year anniversary of the WHO classification of rf fields being a possible human carcinogen. I have been assured media coverage if we have enough cities covered. Just need to do this for about an hour with time to be arranged with your local media (I can help with that).
PLEASE get your supporters, friends, family, cell tower activists, legislators, etc to join you. WE NEED CHILDREN, TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS OUT THERE AS THIS IS SO UNFAIR TO THEIR GENERATION! It is critical we raise awareness as the San Francisco lawsuit (which SF won in US District Court in Oct. but CTIA appealed) will go to the appellate court soon so this will make a huge statement. We demand the right to know!

We love our smart meter colleagues and we hope they will help as we are all in this mess together. We support and help with their efforts nationwide. On the particular day though we would like to keep the media focus on cell phones and towers.

Mayor Pradel, Councilman Wehrli and Councilman Fieseler, you each asked that a medical doctor talk to you directly about the potential health risks associated with "smart" meters. I contacted one of the premier experts on this topic, David Carpenter MD. He is a Harvard trained physician with decades worth of experience in the public health arena with a specialty in non-ionizing radiation. Particularly EMF RF & MW radiation and its impact on human physiology. He has been asked to testify before the House and the Senate and in 2009 before the President's Cancer Panel. His works are published in multiple peer reviewed journals.
There is no one in Naperville who has the expertise or qualifications to speak on this topic with the authority or depth of knowledge than Dr. Carpenter. To minimize, diminish or disregard his findings would be foolish and reckless. What he advocates for is precaution when blanketing a communication mesh network onto our already saturated society. He also stresses the need for further research into the physiologic impact of living in a high-tech society.
Attached is his letter where he addresses his concerns regarding "smart" meters specifically to Naperville. This would also extend to all of Illinois. I have also attached the reports that he cites in the body of the letter.
I urge you to take Dr. Carpenter's insights and expertise into consideration before the damage becomes irreversible. You were each elected to advocate and protect the rights of all 145,000 residents, especially those most fragile in our society. Adopt a policy of precaution.
I have also attached the letter that a fellow resident sent to the mayor and her concerns as a cancer survivor. Please take this as an opportunity to advocate and champion for her and others like her by allowing residents to retain their analog meters without penalty.

- 179,000 Quebecers have been diagnosed with ES (Statistic Canada, 2010), up from 171,000 in 2005.
- The number of people in Canada diagnosed with this condition has increased by 34% during this same period.
- 3% of Canadians have been diagnosed with MCS, which commonly overlaps with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia (Statistics Canada, 2007).
- 5% of Canadians (1.5 million people) have been diagnosed with at least one of these disorders (Statistics Canada, 2007).
- 3.6% of Canadian nurses experience chemical sensitivities (2005 National Survey of the Work and Health of Nurses).
Environmental Sensitivities (ES) can be a disabling medical condition triggered either by one large exposure to chemicals, biological substances or electromagnetic radiation. It can also be precipitated by low exposures to these same elements, over a period of time. The result of this can dramatically affect the life of the individual. People who were once able to function in various aspects of life within their homes, at work and in the community, suddenly find themselves physically unable to tolerate many products. Low levels of exposures in their daily lives now make them ill.
Disabling symptoms can occur such as: extreme fatigue, swelling, an inability to concentrate or think clearly (brain fog), memory problems, dizziness, pain in the body (muscles and joints as well as the eyes, scalp and face), bruising, tachycardia, gastro-intestinal symptoms (diarrhea, bloating, etc.) to name but a few. Removal of the offending agents results in in symptom improvement. However the symptoms can continue to affect the person for many days. If the person cannot find organic food, clean water, a healthy place to live and work free from offending agent(s), the symptoms can be provoked by additional substances such as foods, exposure to noise or light, etc. Eventually, these sensitivity reactions can be triggered by even lower doses of incitants (provoking agents).
